Agave Watercolour, Natural Line, 290 g/m², matt
€17,30 EUR
Agave may sound like Mexico, but this paper is made in Lower Saxony. Its fibre is sisal, obtained from the leaves of Agave sisalana — the same plant whose strong fibres are used for ropes and carpets. 70% sisal, 30% cotton.
The result is a matt watercolour paper with a visible fibre texture and a distinctive way of taking colour: slightly more open than pure cellulose papers and noticeably more characterful. Coarse earth pigments reveal granulation here that can disappear on smoother papers.
We stock it because it is rarely available — and because it shows that good watercolour paper does not have to be made from cotton alone.
